Why Moon Palace?

Let’s chat about how to have a great time at Moon Palace! Let me take you on a quick honeymoon guide for Moon Palace. In 2016 I got married! The wedding was planned to the tee but we had one major question, where are we going on our honeymoon? I’m sure there’s a lot of couples who face this dilemma. One thing we knew for sure was wherever we went it had to be warm, sunny and on a beach. We were given a travel voucher from a friend for Interval Travel and that’s where we began our search. We went on their site and started to narrow our search down. It was between Jamaica, Barbados, Aruba, and Anguilla.

While speaking to the travel expert she told us about a brand new 4-star resort that is all-inclusive with everything you can dream of. And on top of that, this resort was featured on the Real Housewives of Atlanta (my favorite reality show). They looked like they had such a fun time at Moon Palace! Needless to say, we booked our trip to Moon Palace in Ocho Rios Jamaica. Why did we choose them, we liked the fact that it was only a year old at the time, and she did her job and made it sound so darn good. 

I was a little skeptical about going to Jamaica. Almost everyone I knew went there on their honeymoon or other leisurely vacations. From the stories I heard, I wasn’t that impressed by Jamaica. Sure, it was someplace that I wanted to visit eventually, but not for my honeymoon. The idea I had of what I wanted my honeymoon to be like was top-notch everything. You know like the commercials you see on TV. I wanted to LIVE IT UP but in the lap of luxury.

What do they have to offer?

Well, from the time we pulled up to the resort my mouth dropped. From that point on I was so glad we made the decision to spend our honeymoon there. Moon Palace was by far the best place we had ever visited. Here’s a list of ways you can have a great time at Moon Palace offers:

• Non-motorized sports, 
• A day trip Negril Rick’s Cafe and Margaritaville plus so much more. 

Moon Palace is a great trip for couples or even families. It was our honeymoon so obviously we didn’t bring our daughter. Being childfree we lived it up, no limits were set on what we did. We had late nights at the clubs and bars, let alone using our own full-sized bar in our room. 

You will be treated like royalty

You’re greeted by the nicest people from the time you get off the bus. The resort is absolutely breathtaking! I hadn’t even stepped foot into the hotel yet and I was done for. The view of the lobby is spectacular and very opened with beautiful scenery. The doorman greeted us with an ice-cold towel so we can cool down from the heat. There’s a bar as soon as you walk in, along with a massive front desk where guest services are there just waiting to assist you with check-in. You also have a full view of the beach from the lobby as well.

The service we received from the time we checked in to the time we checked out was impeccable. We truly didn’t have to lift a finger. Seriously! We were provided with a full tour of the resort. This place is so big I was tired by the time we were finished with our tour. Now you can schedule the tour when you want but we wanted to do our tour when we first got there to get it out of the way. 

We stayed entertained!

We stayed at Moon Palace for a whole week. There was always something to do while we were there. So our gameplan was to go to every restaurant each night and we ate at the same restaurant for breakfast. My husband would be at the restaurant as soon as they opened every day. The staff actually started to know him by name. I couldn’t get up that early after having a night that ended just a few hours earlier. When it was time for breakfast I just ordered room service most of the time.

The great thing about that is we didn’t have to worry about the cost because it was already paid for. We visited Negril Village which is where we made stops at Margaritaville, and then spent the rest of the day at Rick’s Cafe. Another day we went to Dunn’s River Falls on a catamaran from the hotel. The rest of the time we just stayed at the resort because there was plenty to do there. 

There’s magic in the water!

Now I’m going to tell you a little secret about me, I am not a water person, as a matter of fact, I was petrified to get in the ocean or the pool for the majority of my life. That is until I got to Jamaica. It is unclear if it was how beautiful and clear the water is or being able to fully relax while I was there but I did so many water activities.

Unbelievably, I actually got in the ocean and attempted to float on my back, I went down the water slide at the resort, and coming back from Dunn’s River Falls I rode on the front of the boat laying just on a net. I was in shock about what I did while there! This trip was everything that I needed plus more. You can do all of this too if that’s what you would like to do. 

What’s it like on the inside?

Like I said before the hotel is extremely beautiful. The room had a balcony on it. Unfortunately, the room we stayed in did not have a view unless you leaned over the balcony and turned your head to either side. So the balcony wasn’t very useful for us. This is the only complaint that I had about my stay. The floors were not carpeted which I loved. I’m not sure what kind of flooring it was but they were something along the lines of marble, or granite. The closets and the bathroom were a pretty decent size, I felt safe enough to place my valuables in the room safe.

What else do they have for you?!

They equipped the bathroom with CHI hair products, they came in so handy because I had to wash my hair and the products worked wonders for me. That impressed me because most hotels only give you small travel-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner that dry your hair out but these were regular-sized bottles. Oh, and did I mention that the bar was fully stocked in our room? Can you tell that we made good use out of the bar? We made lots of mixed drinks during the very short time that we stayed in our room. 

WARNING!

Now I’m going to issue you a warning: Staying at an all-inclusive resort can be dangerous. It can be good and bad actually. It’s good since you don’t really need money as long as you stay at the resort. But here is an example of the bad. My husband had the notion to eat and drink everything he could to get “his money’s worth”. This led to being overstuffed and hangovers. Please don’t do this it isn’t worth getting sick because you “want to get your money’s worth”. You’ll end up missing some valuable time and memories because you overdid it. Luckily, when we went to Jamaica it was the second week of May so it wasn’t too hot yet. The weather was actually perfect when we went there. 

Warning 2!

One thing I forgot to mention is you will possibly get sold a vacation package while you are there. The team is super passionate about what they are selling. They are willing to work with you on the price of the package. I know that this can be a turn off for some people. But once you go to Moon Palace and see what they are offering and the different packages they’re offering you, it is so worth it guys. They always have offers that they are sending you and they have different places you can go to instead of what they call your “home residence”. For instance, we purchased our package in Jamaica.

Where else can we go?

The next time we go on vacation that is where we are supposed to go every time but you can go to Mexico as well. They have a new resort in Mexico that I really want to check out. Actually, the majority of their resorts are in Mexico, altogether there are 10 resorts by Palace Resorts. But, if you have a presentation while you are there I really hope you check it out. Since you can go to other countries, you can have a great time at Moon Palace anywhere. You won’t be disappointed.

Final Warning!

This is the last warning that I have for you, beware of the drivers. There aren’t any airports close to the resort. We had to travel about an hour and a half to get there from Sangster Bay Airport. Riding in Jamaica is really scary! I don’t scare too easily but I was extremely nervous riding on this van. They don’t abide by any traffic laws. EVERYONE is in a mad dash to get to where they are going. The only thing I could do on our rides is going to sleep and pray that we arrived at our destination safely. 

One Last Thing!

The whole stay was magnificent! I truly didn’t want to leave when our week came to an end. Unfortunately, our stay was over I just wanted to move into the hotel it was that great of an experience for me.
