Let’s chat about how I get ready in the morning! To me, beauty isn’t just about the way I put my makeup on. It’s also about how bright my smile is and how fresh my breathe is. Making sure my hair is just right. I have to make sure my skin feels good and moisturized. The way I get ready takes a while for me but it doesn’t have to for you. I’m just a little bit of a perfectionist. Let me take you on a step by step of what I do.
Get Ready Step 1:
The first thing that I do is hop in the shower. I know that we are supposed to take showers in lukewarm water. But personally, I cannot do that so my showers are pretty hot. The type of body wash that I like to use is Dove Purely Pampering Shea Butter. When I tell you this body wash is the greatest to me, I really mean it. This body wash makes me feel so good. I have used Dove for many years and truly liked some of their products. But this shea butter body wash is my absolute favorite. I started this list by taking a shower because smelling good is very important.
Get Ready Step 2:
If you remember I mentioned that I consider having a bright smile is part of my beauty routine. With that being said, I use two different types of toothpaste. And yes I do floss. I like to use Oral B Satin Floss because it’s more comfortable for me to use. I used to rinse with hydrogen peroxide but after my last dental appointment, I had to stop. It was causing the enamel on my teeth to get weak. So use hydrogen peroxide at your own risk.
Then I brush with Crest 3D White and after I brush with that I use Crest Gum Detoxify. I had to find a replacement since I had to stop using peroxide, which was my secret weapon. This combination is really great. After I’m finished brushing this makes my teeth and gums feel so unbelievably clean. After brushing I use ACT Total Care Mouthwash. This just takes the freshness over the top. It’s another product that I have used for ages. Now I’m ready to move on to the next step.
Get Ready Step 3:
After taking care of my teeth, I move on to cleaning my face. I wash my face after brushing my teeth because it just makes sense to me. Who wants to wash their face and then brush their teeth to only get toothpaste on their face and have to clean it again? The facewash that I use is a new one that I decided to try out. I have been using Aveeno Positively Radiant. I started to use this because I want to make my face brighter. This face wash does just that. You can see a clear difference after one wash. I also like to use the Proactiv spin brush to help with cleaning my face. It helps my skin to feel smoother and cleaner.
Step 4:
After giving my face a good scrub, I move on to Thayers Witch Hazel Toner with Rose Petal. I like to use this toner because it makes my skin feel extra clean, it softens my skin and adds a little moisture to it. It really gets into your pores for a deeper clean. All you have to do is add a little bit of this toner to a cotton round or cotton ball and smooth it across your face. Thayers does not sting or burn it’s just a refreshing feeling that comes over your face. Next, I use the Aveeno Positively Radiant moisturizer to seal everything in.
Step 5:
I like to add some perfume right after I do all of this. My pores are still opened and that’s the best time to put perfume on. Your perfume will last longer if you do it this way. It also is stronger when you put the perfume on when your pores are opened. For some reason, this gives me an extra boost of confidence.
Step 6:
Now it is time for the really fun part. Are you ready for some? We get to play in some makeup! Ok so for my everyday beat I keep it pretty simple. First, I use MAC’s Prep and Prime Primer. Next, I apply my foundation. The foundation that I like to use and it is another go-to for me is MAC Studio Fix. This foundation is buildable and gives you full coverage.
Once I’m finished with the foundation I use their Studio Fix concealer. I apply it to just the trouble areas that I have. Under my eyes have been a problem for me ever since I had my son. My next troubled area is my jawline. I have a problem with hypopigmentation along my jawline. Once all of this is applied I have a fully covered face.
Step 7:
I like to do a soft contour to my face. Put the contour along my hairline, the sides of my nose, under my cheekbones, and my jawline. I do this just to break up the monotony of the foundation, give my face a little definition. It really does wonders to your face when you contour.
Step 8:
Now I move on to the eyes. I like to pay special attention to my eyes they look really great when they’re accentuated. The color palette I pick typically matches what I’m wearing. Right now I want to keep it simple. The go-to for this is Covergirl TruNaked Eyeshadow. It definitely delivers a touch of color and at the same time blends so well that it’s not overpowering.
After adding the eyeshadow that I choose, it’s time to line up the eyelids. Covergirl Perfect Point in black is my all-time favorite. It helps me to achieve a nice bedroom eye. When I’m done with the eyeliner, I move onto the Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion. This mascara is perfect for an everyday look. It lengthens my lashes without adding lashes to them. Moving to my lips. I’m sticking with the natural theme with my lips too. I line my lips with a brown lip liner. Any nude lipstick will do as long as it matches your skin tone.
Step 9:
The final step for the makeup is spraying some finishing spray. I like to use the ELF Mist and Set. This spray will lock all that precious work that you did in. It seems like this spray will bring out your makeup a little more. It also gives your face a little glow too. After all of this work you are ready to grace the world with your presence!
That’s how I get ready during the week. I hope this post is helpful for you and I provided you with some tips. The products that I use are those that I have relied on for years. This isn’t a post to get you to purchase the same products that I use. I just want you to know what I depend on to maintain my beauty.
